Welcome! Most of us want to know the truth and are earnestly attempting to realize our hopes. However, our living hope regarding eternity must be based on truth to have any realistic chance of being achieved. Otherwise, our efforts are futile. At Hope Through the Truth we believe in the promises of Almighty God. Some of the basic beliefs of our Christian faith are listed below.
Our Living Hope
The Bible tells us, “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you” (1 Peter 1:3–4).
The One Eternal Truth
Jesus said:
- Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth (John 17:17).
- I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me (John 14:6).
Our Living Hope Through the Eternal Truth
The Word of God is the one, eternal truth and is perfectly embodied in the life of His Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus came to earth, by the will of God the Father, to seek and save the lost. To accomplish this, Jesus wrapped Himself in skin and bone, lived a sinless life, was tempted in every way but never sinned, was crucified in our place for our sins, buried in a tomb, and raised to life by God on the third day; so that those who believe in Him as Lord and Savior could have eternal life with Him one day. By his death, burial, and resurrection, Jesus Christ defeated sin and death.
We eagerly await the fulfillment of our living hope through the one eternal truth. Meanwhile, we are trying to live our Christian faith daily through the power and guidance of the Holy Spirit, the teaching of the Word of God, and the example provided by the life of Jesus Christ.
God Almighty
- Is the one, eternal, all-powerful God consisting of three co-existing and equal personalities: God the Father; Jesus Christ the Son, and the Holy Spirit of God.
- Is the Creator and Ruler of everything.
- Is the originator of the truth, our hopes, and eternal life.
- Devised a plan for sinful mankind to be redeemed; that is, brought back into right relationship with our holy God, so we can spend eternity with him.
God’s Plan of Salvation
- To receive salvation, one must believe that Jesus is the Son of God, repent of their sins, confess faith in Jesus Christ and be baptized for the forgiveness of sins. Salvation is only obtained through faith in Jesus Christ.
- God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit were intimately involved in the plan of salvation.
- God the Father provided the plan; having devised it before the beginning of the world.
- Jesus Christ provided the pathway; having shed his blood on the cross that paved the way for sinful man to gain eternal life.
- The Holy Spirit provided the power by which the plan was accomplished.
